Hurricane Season 2013: June 1st thru November 30th
This season is predicted to be very active with stronger storms.
NOAA suggests 13 to 20 named storms with 7 to 11 hurricane strength with 3 potential major hurricanes.
An area of low pressure currently located over east central Azores is packing gale force winds. Will it hit Florida? We will know in 10 days or so. If it becomes a Tropical Storm, etc. its name will be Andrea.
Are you prepared? Does your have a family evacuation plan? Do you have a supply of food & water on hand for at least 3 days? Cash on hand? Remember ATM’s & gas pumps & other conveniences run on electricity. These are just a few of the preparedness suggestions. Check with FEMA, www.fema.gov.
If you are considering Flood Insurance coverage, please check with your Homeowners Insurance agent before June 1st. There is typically a 30 day waiting period before coverage is effective, after the application is submitted. There are only a few exceptions.
REMEMBER: LAMSBD is not responsible for hurricane damage (including flood or wind) to your property including boat house and bulkhead and/or personal injury.
