Chairman Mark McMillan at Work
LAMSBD Chairman Mark McMillan at work with the District Engineer Mike Kelter
Many of the Trustees have spent time on the dam kettles opening & closing valves over the years. Trustee Butch Huggins is our Valve Master, ie, the most experienced of all the Trustees. But, many chip in when duty calls.
During one of our heavy May storms this year, Chairman Mark on a day off from the Fire Department with Mike opened the valve on Lake Ryan. Please note the water is approaching the top of the kettle. This activity is not a piece of cake. Balancing on the wet bars in driving rain, knowing your foot at any time could side into one of the gaps, keeps you on your toes. I am not the only Trustee to have fallen into a lake mounting or dismounting a kettle.
We all need to thank Mark for a job well done, his commitment goes beyond just conducting a Board meeting.
Butch Huggins, Mark McMillan & Tom Petrucci have spend time on the valves. Very few, if any residents ever volunteer. Our dams are safe but we have to always be prepared.
