How to handle Aircraft Landings
I spoke with the FAA July 16th, they reconfirmed that seaplanes can land on our lakes.
At the same time, the FAA suggested that based on the good neighbor rule, a seaplane landing on our lakes, due to the size of our lakes excluding an emergency, should not happen.
I also explained that residents are supposed to travel counter clockwise (even though many don’t). The FAA understands that could present a problem. We both agreed, excluding an emergency, pilots are concerned with safety and normally would not land with boat traffic on the lakes.
Basic Rule: A seaplane landing or taking off has the right away. Once the seaplane lands, the same rules apply as any boat on the lake.
